How these six fit together on one job
Each part of the work is priced separately, and one job may need several services. A typical finished-basement loss runs through four of them.
It starts as an emergency call and a cleanup, because somebody has to get the water out tonight. Within the first visit it becomes an inspection, because the question of how far the water travelled decides everything after it. Then several days of drying, which is the slowest and least visible part and the one people most want to cut short. Only once the readings say the structure is dry does the repair work start.
Where it came up through a drain rather than down from a pipe, the sequence starts at basement flooding and sewage backup instead, and the whole job is handled as contaminated water, which changes what can be saved. Where the damage is extensive enough that putting the room back is really a rebuild, it ends at renovations and construction.
Common questions
Which service do I need?
If water is moving right now, call us and start with emergency cleanup. An inspection finds how far water travelled after the source has stopped. Extraction and drying remove water that remains in the structure. Start with basement flooding and sewage backup if the water came up through a drain, or repairs if the building is already dry and needs to be put back together.
Do you handle the whole job, or just the drying?
The whole job. Extraction, drying, and then the repairs that put the building back, all on one job number and under our name. Most water losses get split between a restoration crew and a builder hired months later, which leaves the homeowner managing two contractors. We do not subcontract your job out.
Can one job involve several of these?
Most do. A burst pipe in a finished basement typically runs inspection, extraction, drying, then drywall and flooring, sometimes with a hazardous materials survey in the middle. They are separate pages because they are separate pieces of work with separate costs, not because they happen separately.
What do you not do?
Asbestos abatement, plumbing and sewer repairs, and electrical work all go to a licensed specialist, and we coordinate around them. We also do not adjust or negotiate your insurance claim, which is licensed work in BC, though we do bill your insurer directly and document the loss for your adjuster.
